In the Beginning

In the Beginning there was...the Land. A beautiful piece of property we passed on the way to Homer looking for a house to retire in. I am not sure how many times we drove by before noticing the for sale sign. But eventually we did. And stopped. The most compelling thing about the Land was the view. You could walk slightly uphill through pines and birch tree's to an almost sheer drop of 200 feet to the beach below. The dark black blue water of the inlet lay below my feet and stretched for 30 miles before touching the other shore. At the green shore Mount Mount Iliamna rose, dressed in brilliant white snow all the way to the peak. I can see 3 other volcano's from the land. Augustine to the south. Redoubt and Spur to the North. All are blanketed in snow the year round.

Eventually I bought the Land and when it became available the ajoining Lot. The adjoining Lot is where God comes to stay. It is a very peaceful and quite spot.  There is almost always a breath of wind with a slight smell of the sea, coming up the cliff. It winds softly through the trees and turns to voices that you can almost make out.  I wonder what they are saying?
